Z2 Gameplay means he was based off of Goku's Z2 a lot. It's not 100% the same. Otherwise there would be nothing worth checking out.

It's me again with another not so large character (despite it's ridiculous byte size.)
Natsu Dragneel & Happy from Fairy Tail DS. A double-team character.
You can choose whether or not to have Happy fight with you in the beginning of every round (because this helper is still somewhat of a beta and it can cause other helpers and explods to look very stupid).
Choosing whether or not to use Happy is a bigger deal than some might think. If you use him properly, you can easily double your damage output, but without him you'll do basic damage and the aftermath of Phoenix Blade causes a good amount of damage to yourself.

Updates, character info, character story, command input, movelist, damage, combos and credits all in the Read Me text file.

Because they're awesome, a thanks and credit go to Cybaster and Balthazar for allowing me to use whatever I needed from their character, GokuZ2. Therefor, my character is also open source. If I've stolen something, the link will be removed until said stolen content is removed from my character.

Haven't downloaded the most recent version, so if any of this has been fixed feel free to ignore it.

- Not sure why, but on every stage I have besides the default Mugen training stage, the Phoenix Blade attack is misaligned:





- Parry fx could use a little centering:



- If the option to choose Happy or not is gonna stay, and he's not ever going to get updated to always use happy, then you should make it to where he falls faster from Phoenix Blade when he doesn't have happy with him. And also, he falls fast when you win a round with Happy because Happy proceeds to do his winpose instead of catch him. Intentional? And sometimes this happens:



It looks like Happy drops him.  Is that intentional?  And if so, he should fall faster.

- Not sure if anything can be done about this, but could Fire Dragon's Fist be updated to work better in the corner or would that cause problems?

- His back+c and back+z throw could be updated to differentiate them from the forward ones, where he could actually turn them around and knock them the other way.

- Has the x+a charge been implemented? Because I can't seem to do anything with the command.

- I can't seem to pull off a super jump, unless I'm missing something.

- Quote from readme: "BFF - Happy (A helper to assist you in battle - Dies after 15 hits regardless of damage - Catches you when falling from Phoenix Blade - Can be used separately as if it were an entire other character - Can decide whether or not to use Happy during Intro of each round)"  What does that mean?  It looks like it's detailing the mechanics of Happy but why does it have a command? Unless I'm missing something again.

I have no idea why Phoenix Blades alignment would be off on other stages...looking into it.
I completely forgot about him having Parry. Actually, I don't even remember adding it. Anyways, that's an easy fix.
I was well aware of the errors with Happy and the catching, but you might have an older version because, I made it so you fall if he's not in the battle, if you win, or if he's dead. Anything else, and he catches you. If you do have the older update, then Phoenix Blades alignment should be fixed, too (Well...the portrait will be aligned properly.)
I did that with Fire Fist because I didn't want to risk it and have an infinite, but I'll see what I can do.
A second throw was on my mind the entire time, but I wasn't sure what to add. I thought him just suddenly turning would look kind of weird.
Oh shit...I think I put the command for x+y.
I didn't add a superjump like you're thinking. After a special, you can jump instead of waiting for the recovery part of the attack to end. I'll change the name of that jump and add a real superjump, too.

Happy is a helper that assist you in battle, but you control him. I guess it's a little confusing if I write "Can be used separately...". Happy can get hit 14 times before going into a dead state. In the intro, a bubble pops up asking you if you should use Happy.......if the Read Me said that, but you didn't get that bubble asking you to use Happy in the gameplay, then that means my files failed to save again and I uploaded the exact same Natsu with an updated read me. ;P
If you don't mind, can you download him again and tell me if that bubble in the intro shows? If not, I'll re upload him right away.

Oh no, I never had any problems with Happy not showing up, I was just wondering why it had a command next to that part in the readme. He and the bubble always showed up.

Yeah, the Happy stuff seems to be fixed in the update.

Yep, the charge is x+y instead of x+a.

Turning around with a backwards throw wouldn't seem too weird to me, I believe a lot of other characters do it.

The sequence with the super bg and the animation during the Phoenix Blade are still messed up though, try doing it in Mountainside Temple and you'll see. And in the update, the yellow face animation is misaligned even in the training stage, unlike before where it was fine.

Some new feedback:

- This is just a minor nitpick, but it's odd how when you kill someone with Fire Dragon's Fist that they go above you and end up on the opposite side.

- When you're next to a downed opponent and you use Fire Dragon's Claw, the dust fx from the opponent hitting the ground will appear even though you don't even hit them.

Oh, the BFF. Haha, that means Best Friends Forever. And that's good. I've had problems in the past where I'd supposedly upload updated characters, but it was the same outdated character every time for some reason.

I never had problems with the animated portrait in Phoenix Blade, but I am having trouble keeping the headbutt in the center...oh well. As long as he's visible and not causing errors, it's fine.

I just realized that the Phoenix Blade problems are probably caused by Mugen resolution.

I never really paid much attention to your screenshots, but judging by them it looks like you use an HD resolution. Do you?

And if so, do you think you could make a 640x480 patch?

And regarding the update, should he super jump if you press up after every single attack, even if you miss?  Doesn't feel right, and he should only do that if you actually manage to hit the opponent with his launcher and press up immediately afterwards.

Alright, the only qualms I have now are minor, and its how Fire Dragon Fist knocks the opponent backwards when you KO them (which just looks odd):





and how Phoenix Blade takes the opponent up to different levels on different stages:

But other than that, every thing seems to be fine now. (Except for how in the 1.0 download you have the .def set up to use 1Basics.cns even though there is no such file; just need to get rid of the 1.)

Fire Dragons Fist is like that because the vel is actually hitting the opponent towards you. I actually forgot about it. I'll fix it.
The headbutt seems to only put Natsu at the top of the screen for me in Mountainside temple. Every other stage it looks fine, but like I said before. As long as he's visible, there's no problem.
I didn't even touch the def file so I have no idea why it did that.

I'll update it when I release my next character, Lucy. Her attacks are way to similar to Natsu, so I'll try my best to change it up.

There is no real problem with the headbutt, but as long as it's like that I'd at least try to fix it.

It's just not working exactly like it should, so it should at least be looked into.

It just feels kinda wrong.

And is there any way you can make it to where he doesn't stop his intro if you pick whether or not to use Happy early?

That's all I got so whatever you do good luck with Lucy, looking forward to it.

I mentioned that I already tried to fix it. I'm not sure whats wrong. I'll look into it some more, but there's nothing wrong that could cause errors. He's just up a little higher than usual.

Didn't even know he did that. I'll change that too after Lucy.

In the latest version, Happy always seems to stick around in round 2, regardless of whether or not I choose to use him in it.

And have you ever considered some kind of bonus for not choosing Happy or some negative to choosing him to make it worthwhile and not just a bit of fluff? Like maybe slower charge time if you have Happy and a greater increase in power if you taunt without him?  All choosing not to use him now gets you is hurt after Phoenix Blade, and a bit of gameplay taken out.  Unless of course the option to choose is just there to be there.

Anyway to make Happy face the right way when you use Phoenix Blade facing the left?

And I would consider taking throw off of Z, because sometimes if you have happy active and you throw with Z then Happy will hit in the middle of the throw and interrupt it, causing the opponent not to get thrown and not take the throw damage.

For his attacks, wouldn't it be good to add a trigger so that the AI can't continually spam them and keep the opponent in the air for a long time once they're already down? Something like

triggerall = P2Life > 0
so the attacks stop when P2 gets KO'd. In your video, when you were showing the AI, Natsu prolonged the ending by like five seconds just hitting Goku's dead body repeatedly in the air. This may not seem like much, but it does get pretty annoying when it happens consistently :P

Also, is it intentional, or is his charge broken? It seems really easy to hop back, get full bar, and spam power attacks. They do so much damage anyways, and then having relatively low cost with high damage output...
